Avon has been put on notice by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to amend its claims on its products.  The products under scrutiny are:  Anew Rejuvenate Night Revitalizing Crème, Anew Clinical Advance Wrinkle Corrector, Anew Reversalist Night Renewal Cream & Serum, Anew Clinical Therafirm Face Lifting Cream and Solutions Liquid Bra Toning Gel.  The claims made by Avon on their face products currently include “deep wrinkles begin to fade in 1 week”, “rebuilds collagen to help plump out lines and wrinkles”, and “help tighten the connections between skin’s layers”, misleading the public to believe the products will have a direct effect on the structure or function of a part of the body (Hood, 2012).  The FDA feels claims such as these are reserved for pharmaceutical drugs.
