Watermelon season is here; it is not just refreshing to eat, it also helps the skin during the summer months. Watermelon is 93% water so it helps the body stay hydrated; it has lots of vitamins and acts as a natural diuretic.
- To help the skin retain its youthful appearance, take 1 cup of watermelon pulp and apply it to the face and neck as a face wash to remove dirt and pollution.
- For glowing skin, mix watermelon juice and plain yogurt together and apply to the skin for 10 minutes. The juice will hydrate the skin and the lactic acid from the yogurt and malic acid from the watermelon will help dissolve dead skin cells leaving the skin refreshed.
- To help reduce wrinkles, mix watermelon juice and mashed avocado together. Apply mask, leave on for 20 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
- To lighten and brighten suntanned skin, soak cotton pads or a cotton cloth in watermelon juice. Apply to the face or body and let stand for 15 minutes and rinse off. Another option is to mix equal portions of watermelon and cucumber pulp together. This will soothe sunburned skin and lighten your complexion.
