carrier oils 2

Oils such as olive, sweet almond, avocado, jojoba, apricot, castor and even coconut oil are good for cleansing the skin without clogging the pores.  They work great for taking off makeup while leaving the skin hydrated but not greasy.

You can use a single oil or in a combination.  You can purchase a bottle with a pump or recycle one of your cosmetic bottles.  If you are combining two oils, fill the bottle half full with each oil.  You can then add an essential oil such as lavender, tea tree or patchouli (all of which are good for healing the skin, fighting bacteria and skin rejuvenation).  Once the oils have been added, shake the bottle before each use to disperse the essential oil molecules.  For a 4 oz. bottle (30 drops of a single essential oil or essential oil blend) or 8 oz. bottle (60 drops essential oil of a single essential oil or essential oil blend).  Use once daily.

Once your facial oil is prepared you can use as follows.

  • Dispense a quarter-size dollop and rub it over the face for 1 minute (you do not have to remove makeup first).
  • With a clean face cloth in hot water, place cloth over face for 30 seconds to allow pores to open.  This will allow the oil to help lift debris and sebaceous oils to the surface.
  • Proceed by cleansing the face with the moistened cloth.  No moisturizer is necessary unless you plan to go outdoors.  If you decide to use a facial cleanser after this step, it is important to use a moisturizer.
  • These oils are also great to use on the entire body after a bath or shower.
