If you are planning to get a tattoo, do not have it done over a mole or birthmark. This can make it harder to detect the development of skin cancer.
Studies in England and Germany have shown a rise in cases of melanoma developing with tattoos. If you have a mole under a tattoo and want to have it removed, have the mole biopsied before having any kind of laser treatment.
